Nothing in the world is done well without the effective and efficient handling of information, messages, and relationships. Each aspect is critical to ensuring that your mission is carried out successfully.

Technology is a double-edged sword, both enabling effective communications on one side; and increasing complexity to create more problems on the other side. You need to ensure you are on the correct side of the blade.

People and Groups of People (employees, citizens and customers) all struggle with three common, symptomatic problems (pain points) brought on by technology: (i) separation, (ii) rapid change, and (iii) infomania. 

The result is loss of productivity, wasted time and resources, disconnect communication, and Friction & Noise™. Wave calls this “The Unproductive Industry.”

Currently, most technology suppliers “push” technology onto people with a “Sink or Swim” attitude. Most technology providers are “framing” the question (problem) incorrectly, and offer the right answers (solutions) to the wrong question. 

At the core of communications are people connecting and collaborating with people, either internally as employees, or externally as customers and citizens. People do not buy communications technology to have fun with the latest toys.

The end game is effective relationships (and prospects), not more technology. This simple concept seems to be lost on most technology suppliers.

Technology does help automate repetitive and recurring tasks – which it is ideally suited for. It does help people connect and communicate, creating The Communications Ecosystem. It does enable people to become self-publishers and citizen journalists, which helps to distribute power to the masses. It does have a key role to play in enhancing relationships. But technology alone is not enough. 

Only people, authentically unified with technology, operating in the correct environment, can begin to solve these massive problems.

The solutions to these enormous problems are a paradox. Technology created these problems, but technology also provides a partial answer. What is clear is that people and groups of people need help to deal with rapid change, new technologies, and the fundamentals of efficient collaboration. These solutions are only found in a bona fide, real way, in the unification of Technology, Humanity and Environment™ (T.H.E.).
